Australia Network News reports that the smallest territory in the Pacific is hoping that eco-tourism will bring a new source of income to Pitcairners.
Lucy Foster, the Pitcairn governor's representative, told Radio Australia that the islands are "incredibly beautiful".
"The waters around the area are incredibly clear and there is a lot to see - it is a unique place", she added.
One island in the group, Henderson, is a Unesco-listed world heritage site recognised for its natural beauty.
The news network reports that although the islands have no hotels, travellers keen to visit the area could find low-cost accommodation with islanders.
According to the Pitcairn's government website, places of interest for tourists include the Hill of Difficulty - the site where mutineers from the Royal Navy ship the Bounty first landed in 1789.
