Travellers planning to work in Queenstown, New Zealand, are urged to buy
backpacker travel insurance before heading off.
New Zealand Visa Bureau reports new figures from stuff.co.nz showing that nearly 1,350 people have applied for jobs in Queenstown, in the heart of New Zealand's South Island, in the space of just five months. The town's New Zealand Immigration Service office reported that they receive up to 120 applications a week.
The country is immensely popular among backpackers, but Queenstown receives particular attention owing to the wealth of exciting activities on offer. The town is famous for its bungee jumping opportunities, while it also offers skiing, white-water rafting, skydiving and a host of additional extreme sports.
Many people plan to stay on a long-term basis, while backpackers often buy
cheap travel insurance and plan to work for a few weeks to fund the next leg of their trip.
Gap year travel insurance is advised for younger backpackers.
