ASDA: Make sure travel insurance is in place with strikes looming

Britons planning to fly on Bank Holiday Monday have been warned to ensure they have adequate travel insurance as the threat of a strike at Gatwick airport looms.

Passengers could be facing long delays and chaos if baggage handlers and check-in staff go ahead with their proposed 24-hour action at the country's second busiest airport.

Now ASDA Financial Services has taken the opportunity to urge travellers to check that they are covered for such eventualities by their cheap or backpacker travel insurance policies.

Gideon Ingham from the firm said: "Taking out adequate travel insurance shouldn't be seen as an optional extra, it's an essential must-have.

"Being delayed at the airport is just one of the risks travellers face when they go on holiday and aside from the inconvenience, the last thing we want is for them to be out of pocket too."

The workers have also threatened to stage another 24-hour strike on the following Friday (August 29th), which could cause further mayhem for passengers returning from holiday or setting off on their summer break.ADNFCR-1708-ID-18742901-ADNFCR
