Online travel insurance customers may be among those planning to get their fix of winter sun in the Caribbean or US this year.
According to travel agent On the Beach, these destinations are likely to see an influx of British tourists over forthcoming months as holidaymakers look outside the eurozone for better value for money.
Alistair Daly, the firm's marketing director, said: "With glorious weather, beautiful beaches and warm waters, it's easy to see why the islands of the Caribbean are a very popular destination for those trying to escape cold winters back in Britain."
His comments follow the release of new data from the Post Office revealing a 70 per cent increase in sales of East Caribbean dollars in October.
Research from On the Beach also found a 16 per cent rise in demand for holidays on the islands, with trips to the US increasing by 11 per cent on last year.
