Worldwide travel insurance customers looking for an exotic but accessible destination may be pleased to hear Malta is set to become simpler to get to.
The Malta Tourism Authority claims Ryanair, BMI Baby and Air Malta all plan to add additional routes to the Mediterranean island next year.
According to the country's tourism body, Malta has plenty to offer British holidaymakers, including year-round sunshine, warm waters and a short flight time.
Alex Incorvaja, the authority's director for the UK and Ireland, noted: "It's the history and culture of the islands - and of course their breathtaking beauty - that provide one of the biggest attractions to Brits."
He recommended visitors take advantage of the country's potential for activity breaks, with opportunities including rock climbing, abseiling, yachting, hiking and cycling all readily available.
Recently released figures from travel agent On the Beach revealed a 40 per cent rise in interest in winter sun destinations on last year.
