Sports-mad globetrotters could choose worldwide travel insurance

According to online travel agent Expedia.co.uk, sport is set to dominate the travel calendar for 2010.

Jonathan Cudworth, the firm's director of product management, explained the football World Cup in South Africa, Vancouver's Winter Olympic Games and the Commonwealth Games in India will all be strong draws for sports fans.

He added: "Europe is also expected to see a resurgence as holidaymakers return to the eurozone."

His comments follow signs of optimism from planemakers exhibiting at the Dubai Airshow, many of whom are expecting a rise in demand for 2010.

Airbus's chief operating officer, John Leahy and Boeing's marketing chief for commercial planes, Randy Tinseth both suggested next year would see the market begin to improve.

Mr Cudworth noted that although growth could be slow, recent months have shown that travellers are reluctant to give up their holidays.
