Backpackers planning a trip to a revitalised London have the option of buying
gap year travel insurance before they leave home.
Attractions throughout the city need funding to keep them in a good state and encourage visitors in the build-up to the London Olympics, according to tourism organisation VisitLondon.
The London Eye will get nearly £13 million of investment in the coming years and the Monument has already been revamped this year in order to look its best for tourists from both within the UK and from further afield, many of whom may have bought
worldwide travel insurance.
Jacqueline French, senior PR manager for VisitLondon, said: "People come to London for a whole range of reasons. Whether it's to see the history and the heritage, to see the view from the London Eye, for example, or whether it is to experience the arts and culture."
She added that more funding for landmarks could keep encouraging visitors who may end up heading to a wide selection of attractions.
Boris Johnson, the mayor of London, recently announced £2 million of investment to promote London overseas, according to VisitLondon.
