Brits prone to misplacing their goods and causing accidents abroad racked up an astonishing 1.4 million claims last year, according to new figures.
Research from insurance comparison website onlyfinance.com found that a staggering £370 million of claims were made to cover all kinds of mishaps.
With personal injuries accounting for around one in three claims (510,000), at a cost of £240 million, it looks as though Brits are most likely to fall over than lose an item abroad - at the greatest cost, too.
For those lucky enough not to be injured abroad, 430,000 claims were made to replace lost or stolen baggage, with a further 115,000 claims made after money had been misplaced or pinched.
Speaking about the figures, onlyfinance.com head of business development Ian Durrell said: "The fact that 1.4 million claims were made during 2007 should serve as a warning to Britons jetting off for their summer holidays that they need to ensure they are adequately covered by their insurance policies."
With the rise in popularity of budget airlines it is now easier than ever to travel abroad, sometimes at short notice, and it should always be remembered to take out insurance before booking a flight.
