As the relative strength of the pound against the dollar continues to grow, Britons are heading to the US in their droves.
That is according to the Visit USA Association, which conducted research recently showing that 340,000 Britons touched down in the US during May - a rise of 11 per cent from the equivalent period last year.
As the UK holiday season gradually draws to a close, it would appear likely that the number of Britons heading across the Atlantic could hit record highs.
Peter Moss, chairman of Visit USA, said: "Clearly the favourable pound to dollar exchange rate has had a big impact and when this is then combined with the very wide choice of quality holidays to a multitude of great cities and beaches, then the US becomes an unbeatable holiday destination."
The UK is currently the country which sends the most visitors to the US every year.
Any gappers or backpackers starting or finishing their world tours in the US should remember to ensure they are covered by backpacker travel insurance.
