Although Britons are likely to have a better experience holidaying at home than ever, most will still opt to go abroad, says a spokesperson for travel association ABTA.
ABTA's Frances Tuke said: "People were promised a barbeque summer this year and that didn't materialise so they felt a little short changed."
According to research by Florida's Orlando Travel Bureau, 57 per cent of Brits holidaying at home were disappointed by the weather.
Having experienced a damp holiday at home this year, Brits are more likely to head for sunnier climes next year, she added.
Her comments are echoed by the bureau's study, which revealed only 29 per cent of Britons are planning to stay in the country next summer.
