According to travel comparison site Travelsupermarket.com, countries including Bulgaria, Poland and Hungary offer great value for Brits concerned about the exchange rate in more traditional holiday destinations.
Bob Atkinson, a spokesperson for the site, explained that these countries are not linked to the Euro and have a lower cost of living, making them "astronomically cheap" for UK travellers.
"When you book a holiday and you get there, having a meal out and travelling around buying gifts and souvenirs seems incredibly cheap compared to the UK," he added.
Eastern European trips may even offer a cheaper alternative to holidaying closer to home. Research from Tesco Travel Money found that expenses for a family of four for a week in Bulgaria would cost £1,038 compared to a break in Brighton costing £1,490.
