A bus that has long been used by backpackers - many of whom will have
worldwide travel insurance - is launching in the UK for the first time.
FirstGroup, the UK's largest bus and train operator, owns the Greyhound brand in the US, which has been a popular way for backpackers to travel across America.
Now, the iconic silver bus is being brought to the UK, with FirstGroup hoping to replicate the popularity of the US service with a low-cost version in Britain.
From September 14th, Greyhound buses will begin taking customers between London Victoria and Portsmouth and Southampton, with further routes potentially opening up depending on the service's success.
The move means people who may have bought
cheap travel insurance for a backpacking trip across the US can now reconnect with that experience while in the UK by taking a trip on the Greyhound.
It has recently been claimed that a growing number of young professionals are choosing to take a gap year and travel abroad.
Gapyear.com has suggested many young professionals who have been laid off during the recession are heading overseas, using their redundancy pay to help fund their trip.
Going, going, gone. Downunder for
