A leading money comparison website has urged Britons to ensure they have travel insurance before they take their summer holiday.
Recent research revealed that nearly one in four people in the UK - the equivalent of 13.4 million people - think that securing a policy is something they can do without.
However, Money.co.uk has aimed to dispel some of the myths about travel insurance being expensive and outlines just how important it is to take out cover.
Rachael Lloyd from the website said: "When you go on holiday protecting yourself with comprehensive travel insurance is almost as essential as having a valid passport, if not more so as the consequences of travelling uninsured have the potential to be a lot more expensive.
"In the past travel insurance has had a bit of a reputation for being expensive and not particularly comprehensive, however this was largely down to the travel agents that hiked the price of basic cover and sold it as an add-on when excited holiday makers were planning their trip away."
Ms Lloyd added that by taking a few minutes to look around and compare deals, any holidaymaker can secure
cheap travel insurance for their trip.
