A leading travel guidebook has today (August 19th) claimed that Corsica is a great destination for an activity-filled summer break.
The region is traditionally associated with luxury holidays for travellers looking to soak up its seafront beauty and Italian-influenced cultural and historical attractions.
But Lucy White, editor of the Rough Guide to Corsica, has explained that younger, more adventure-seeking holidaymakers also have plenty of opportunity to keep themselves entertained.
She said: "Corsica can be both a luxurious, expensive getaway or a more down-to-earth, physical experience offering great activities; the Via Ferrata, canyoning, mountain biking and horse riding, along with the strenuous GR20.
"The island is dependably hot and sunny in the summer; beaches and boat trips are often inundated with bronzed holidaymakers.
"Because it's a reliably hot place, tourists are drawn to the glorious sandy beaches and to the numerous boat trips to various caves and islets."
Anyone looking to participate in extreme sports while in Corsica or any other destination would be well advised to ensure their backpacker travel insurance covers them for such activities.
