British winter sports fans, who could buy
cheap travel insurance, are increasingly opting to take the train to French resorts, says a travel expert.
According to train carrier Rail Europe, budget airlines are falling out of favour with many tourists due to the long waits and extra costs involved in checking-in.
Amanda Monroe, media relations manager at the France-based firm, said skiers may also prefer travelling by train as they do not need to pay extra to carry their equipment.
"French resorts and places like Val d'Isere which have nice easy stations to get to, are always popular. It is worth looking at the rail options for any skiing destination," she added.
Figures from the Ski Club of Great Britain's annual Snowsports Analysis report revealed the popularity of trains as a preferred method of transport to ski resorts has continued to increase for a third year.
