New package provides 'ultimate gap year'

A new gap year package is offering travellers the chance to split their year off between working the ski season and becoming a surfing instructor.

'Season2Season', a new initiative by Ticket to Ride Worldwide Surfing Adventures, is giving backpackers the opportunity to pursue skiing, snowboarding and surfing interests in different locations.

After passing a chalet cookery course, applicants head to South Africa to take part in the organisation's ten-week surfing instructor course, learning the ropes in some of the world's most spectacular surf spots.

While based there, everyone on board will also be provided with the opportunity to get involved in charity work.

At the end of the South African adventure, participants head to Europe, where they are guaranteed a job working for five months through the winter in a ski and snowboard resort in the Alps.

Ticket to Ride co-founder Linley Lewis said: "This is your opportunity to learn to cook, learn to surf, get involved in charity work, travel to South Africa, and get qualified as a surf coach and a surf lifesaver.

"Then, after all that, do a full ski or snowboard season using your cooking qualifications, before returning to the UK to potentially work as a surf instructor.

"What better answer could you give to the question: 'What did you do on your gap year?'"ADNFCR-1708-ID-18667672-ADNFCR
