British holidaymakers are far more optimistic about their travel plans for next summer, says the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO).
Kate Kenward, executive director at AITO, said: "We have seen this year that holidays are not something that Britons want to cut back on and coupled with the feeling that the worst of the recession is behind us, people are more optimistic about their holiday plans for 2010."
As Britons emerge from the depths of a downturn, Ms Kenward suggests finding a good value destination will be essential for many travellers.
"The Middle East will also offer excellent value for high quality holidays while the strengthening of the pound against the dollar could see the US make a comeback too," she added.
Her comments follow the release of a new trends report from Thomson and First Choice travel agencies, which found 80 per cent of Brits plan to take a holiday in 2010.
