Travellers confused by holiday websites could choose cheap travel insurance

While booking online travel insurance can be relatively straightforward, some customers are reportedly confused by holiday websites that take users through to third party payment sites.

According to market research firm eDigitalResearch, these sites can put off customers by making them unsure where their money is going.

Michelle Fuller, director of the consumer specialist, said: "The sites that we find cause the most issues are ones that take you off to third party sites to complete your transaction - lastminute.com would be a good example where we find our surveyors do get confused as to who they are dealing with."

She added that despite this, and other usability issues, most travel websites often deal with complicated transactions and are continually improving.

"Travel can be very complex and it is often the case that the holiday the customer is trying to book is not available online and they need advice from customer service to tailor their travel," she explained.
