Turkey has emerged as a genuine holiday hotspot for 2008 among Britons who are looking to travel outside the eurozone for their summer break.
Foreign currency expert M&S Money has confirmed today (August 18th) that it has experienced a 53 per cent year-on-year increase in the sales of Turkish Lira.
Furthermore, the company claimed that Lira has been the second most popular 'exotic currency' so far this year, only trailing behind the Australian dollar.
Fraser Millat, M&S head of travel services, said: "The huge increase in sales of Turkish currency is not surprising, with the relative power of the euro against the pound meaning Brits are getting more for their money by opting for destinations like Turkey.
"This trend is confirmed by the fact that there has also been a large increase in sales of Egyptian currency this year."
The number of Britons visiting Turkey only ranks behind travellers from Germany and Russia, while bookings for resorts in the country are up by 20 per cent this year, according to the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA).
Although finances are tight for many Britons this year,
cheap travel insurance can be easily found and is a must for any potential holidaymaker.
